THE WHITE HELMETS WINS OSCAR FOR SHORT DOCUMENTARY FILM

The Foundation joined thousands across the world in congratulating The White Helmets for being awarded the Oscar for Short Documentary film, just months after being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

In his acceptance speech, director Orlando von Einsiedel read a statement from White Helmets founder Raed al-Saleh, saying that “We are so grateful that this film has highlighted our work to the world. Our organisation is guided by a verse from the Quran: To save one life is to save all of humanity […] “We have saved more than 82,000 Syrian lives. I invite anyone here who hears me to work on the side of life to stop the bloodshed in Syria and around the world”.

The Asfari Foundation strongly supports peaceful Syrian civil society of which the White Helmets are a shining example. We are proud of supporting the White Helmets through highlighting and raising funds for their important work through the Syria Campaign.
